Where you live changes the price more than anything else

Before deciding a quote is high, check it against your own market rather than the national number. A $232 quote is expensive in a tier-4 market and unremarkable in tier 1.

Your own market may sit between tiers. The point is the 2.5x spread, not the precise figure in any one row.

What actually changes your price

Ranking these matters. Most of us compare the headline price of two salons and overlook the next few lines below it that really determine the bill.

Annual cost of ownership

Most budgets break at the cadence, not the price. Classic lash full set maintained full reset 3x annually works out to around $558 a year once gratuity is included.

Assumes 3 visits per year. Change that number and every figure in this table shifts with it.

Before hunting a cheaper provider, look at the interval. One fewer visit a year is about $186 kept; two fewer is $372. Neither costs you any quality.

Is the monthly plan worth it?

A membership is worthwhile above one number: monthly fee ÷ per-visit price. Below that visit count you are subsidising the salon. At a $155 per-visit rate, here is where each plan level breaks even.

Use the quoted rate rather than the market one and check the maths on your quoted rate.

Tipping: the numbers rather than the etiquette

Tip on the pre-tax service amount. If a discount or promotion applied, the convention is to tip on the original value of the work, not the discounted price.

• A no-show or late-cancellation fee is a penalty, not a service. It is not tipped.
• Cash reaches the provider fastest and is still preferred in most independent salons.
• At a resort or hotel spa, check for an automatic service charge before adding another tip.
• On a package or prepaid series, tip per visit on the value of that visit rather than once on the whole package.

Read these out. The whole thing takes a minute or two and they are the gap between a quote and a surprise. The final question matters most — a written quote settles any dispute at checkout.

2. "What is the precise price for classic lash full set at my hair length and density?"
3. "What add-ons do you normally recommend for this service, and what does each cost?"
4. "If I join the membership today, is there an enrolment or annual fee on top?"
5. "What is your cancellation window, and what is the charge if I miss it?"
6. "Which provider tier is that quote for, and what does the next tier up cost?"
7. "Are taxes added at checkout, and do you have a card-payment surcharge?"

Finally: get the quote on paper. A text or email costs the salon nothing and removes any argument at checkout.
