What the same service costs across the U.S. market

These are U.S. market ranges compiled from published industry pricing data, not figures published by any single brand. They tell you where a quote sits nationally.

These bands describe the national market, not this page's subject. Use them to judge whether a quote is reasonable, not as a price you can book.

What eyebrow wax costs in your metro tier

Before deciding a quote is high, check it against your own market rather than the national number. A $30 quote is costly in a tier-4 market and unremarkable in tier 1.

The booking script, word for word

Read these out. It takes under two minutes and they are the gap between a quote and a surprise. The last one matters most — a written quote settles any dispute at checkout.

1. "Are taxes added at checkout, and do you have a card-payment surcharge?"
2. "Is removal of my existing product included, or is it a separate charge?"
3. "If this runs longer than booked, does the price change?"
4. "Do you take a deposit, and does it come off the final balance?"
5. "Can you email or text me the quote before my appointment?"
6. "What add-ons do you normally recommend for this service, and what does each cost?"
7. "If I join the membership today, is there an enrolment or annual fee on top?"

And when you pay: read the itemised receipt line by line. Unexpected charges are nearly always fixable at the desk and almost never fixable later.

The sensible total, worked through

Work it forwards once and you will never be caught out again. A $46 service does not cost $46.

Gratuity, converted from percentages into money

Percentages are awkward to compute at the counter. Here they are converted to dollars at the low, middle and high end of the national range.

• If more than one person worked on you, ask reception how tips are split before assuming the lead provider receives all of it.
• Card tips may be pooled or delayed to the next pay run. Ask if you want it to reach one person directly.
• Assistants who shampoo or rinse are often tipped separately, normally a few dollars.
• At a resort or hotel spa, look for a service charge already applied before adding a second gratuity on top.

Avoid these before you book

These are the errors that show up repeatedly in pricing complaints. Every one is avoided by asking once up front rather than at checkout.
