What to say on the phone

You do not need to negotiate. You need the price to be stated before the service starts. These questions do that without any awkwardness.

Finally: get the quote on paper. A text or email costs the salon nothing and removes any argument at checkout.

The realistic total, worked through

This is the gap that surprises people. Starting from a $57 base, here is where the money goes by the time the card is out.

Annual cost of ownership

Most budgets break at the cadence, not the price. Hair extensions (install) maintained every 5 months works out to roughly $1,950 a year once gratuity is included.

Gratuity is included at 20% because it is not optional in reality. Remove it if you prefer to budget on a separate line.

Dropping one visit annually saves around $780. Dropping the cadence by a quarter saves about $488. Compare that against what you would save by moving to a lower-priced provider before you switch.

When a membership actually beats paying per visit

• If the salon owner performed the service, tipping is optional by convention - though rarely refused.
• If more than one person worked on you, ask how tips are shared before assuming the lead provider receives all of it.
• Assistants who shampoo or rinse are often tipped on a separate line, usually a few dollars.
